The Taqwa Care Guide

The Taqwa Care Guide

A thobe is an investment in your identity. We’ve used high-performance fabrics designed to last, but how you treat your thobe determines how long it stays "Fresh-out-of-the-box" sharp.

Follow these simple steps to maintain the Taqwa Standard.

1. The Wash (Keep it Cool)

  • Turn it Inside Out: This protects the outer finish of the fabric and keeps the colors rich.

  • Cold Water Only: Heat is the enemy of crisp fabric. Wash on a cold, gentle cycle to prevent shrinking and fiber breakdown.

  • Don't Overload: Give your thobes space to move in the machine; this prevents deep-set wrinkles before they even start.

2. The Drying (Skip the Heat)

  • Air Dry is King: The best way to keep a thobe crisp? Hang it on a wide, padded hanger while it’s still damp. Let gravity do the work of pulling out the wrinkles.

  • Avoid the Tumble Dryer: If you must use a dryer, use the "Air Fluff" or "Low Heat" setting for no more than 10 minutes, then hang it up immediately. High heat makes fabric brittle and "shiny"—and not in a good way.

3. The Press (The Secret to the Silhouette)

  • Steam Over Iron: If you have a steamer, use it. It’s faster and safer for the fabric.

  • If You Iron: Use the "Synthetic" or "Silk" setting (Low/Medium heat). Never iron directly on the collar or cuffs if they are structured—iron them from the inside to keep the edges sharp.

  • Pro Tip: Iron your thobe while it is still slightly damp. The steam created by the iron will give you that "razor-sharp" finish with half the effort.

4. The Daily Habit

  • The "Hang-up" Rule: Don't throw your thobe over a chair at the end of the day. As soon as you take it off, hang it up. This lets the fabric breathe and prevents "sitting wrinkles" from becoming permanent.

  • Rotation: Try not to wear the same thobe two days in a row. Giving the fibers 24 hours to "rest" helps the garment maintain its shape for years.

A well-kept thobe is a sign of a man who respects his time and his traditions. Look sharp, stay grounded.
